Grade T(80) and V(100) Part 1: Product Specification

PREFACE
This Standard was prepared by the Standards Australia Committee ME-025, Lifting Tackle, to supersede AS 3775.1—2004, Chain slings—Grade T, Part 1: Product specification.

The objective of this Standard is to provide requirements for the manufacture, marking and testing of Grade T and V chain slings. The objective of all lifting tackle Standards is to provide users, regulatory and accrediting authorities and importers with a basis for identifying products which are safe and fit for their purpose.

DEFINITIONS

For the purpose of this Standard, the definitions below apply.

3.1 Chain sling

An assembly of lifting components made in a configuration of one or more chain legs for attaching loads to the hook of a crane or other lifting appliance.

3.2 Competent person

A person who has, through a combination of training, education and experience, acquired knowledge and skills enabling that person to correctly perform a specific task.

NOTE: Requirements for competent persons are specified in Clause 4.

3.3 Dimensions

  • 3.3.1 Nominal size (of a sling)
