A rock fall curtain was supplied by Geobrugg and installed by Ranger to Geobrugg and CYP’s exacting specifications.

The rock fall curtain was 18m high by about 16m wide and was made up of 5 mesh panels and involved the installation of 43 Hilti chemset anchors, eyenuts, a perimeter wire rope and the splicing together of the panels with several hundred 1 tonne shackles as per the Geobrugg design.

Installation was completed in a very tight time frame ahead of schedule and ahead of budget.

The rock fall curtain is to stop any stray rocks falling into the Franklin East cavern during the pile break out procedure from the Franklin West side.
