Debris Netting and Conveyer Safety Net

Ranger supplied NorthConnex with a custom debris netting system. It was installed at the top of the 60m deep shaft to prevent any spoil falling and damaging workers at the bottom of the shaft or damaging the vent cans as the kibble was lifted. Avoiding damage to the vent cans was essential as it supplied air into the tunnel and work would need to be suspended if the vent cans needed repair.

4 sections of netting were used to cover approximately 12 metres across the shaft.

A conveyer safety net was also supplied to encapsulate the vertical conveyers that take the spoil to the surface, this was to prevent any of the maintenances works from falling or any items falling down the shaft and causing injury to workers below. Conveyer safety nets are an essential fall arrest system solution and are often used in industries such as construction, civil engineering, marine, infrastructure and technology.
