Why Use Safety Netting?

Falls from heights is the number one cause of fatalities on construction sites, with most serious and fatal falls being from roofs, ladders and scaffolds – and from a height of 4 metres or less.

Height Safety Fall Arrest Netting is one safety solution that can prevent such falls. The netting can also be overlaid with a small aperture debris net which will provide a solution both for fall arrest but also to stop debris falling from height onto workers below.

Ranger can supply and install Fall Arrest Nets in accordance with EN 1263 and Australian Standards 4576 and 1576.

RANGER NETTING PROJECTS: NORTHCONNEX 2020

Ranger supplied NorthConnex with a custom debris netting system. It was installed at the top of the 60m deep shaft to prevent any spoil falling and damaging workers at the bottom of the shaft or damaging the vent cans as the kibble was lifted. Avoiding damage to the vent cans was essential as it supplied air into the tunnel and work would need to be suspended if the vent cans needed repair.

4 sections of netting were used to cover approximately 12 metres across the shaft. A conveyer safety net was also supplied to encapsulate the vertical conveyers that take the spoil to the surface, this was to prevent any of the maintenance works from falling or any items falling down the shaft and causing injury to workers below.

RANGER NETTING PROJECTS: CYP - MELBOURNE RAIL TUNNEL 2020

Ranger supplied and installed debris nets for the Cross Yarra Partnership (Melbourne Metro Rail Tunnel) project in both the Franklin East and A’beckett street shafts.

The nets were strung across the caverns and covered approximately 1800 square metres. The nets were installed at heights ranging from 10 -12m and provide protection again debris falling down the shafts to personnel working on the ground underneath. The nets were installed progressively over a 12 month period.
