EXAMINATION CHECKLIST: WINCH LIFTERS

  • CHECK HOOKS

    Corrosion, cracks, damage, distortion, throat opening, security of attachment points and sub-structures, fasteners, welds, full or partial seizure of rotating components, safety latches, etc.

  • CHECK WINCH STRUCTURE

    Corrosion, cracks, damage, distortion, wear, security of attachment points and sub-structures, fasteners, welds, etc.

  • CHECK WINCH MECHANISM including motor, brake, couplings, gearbox, drum, chain, wheel and bearings

    Alignment, corrosion, cracks, damage, distortion, wear, adequacy of lubrication, functionality and mode of operation, full or partial seizure of rotating components, rope fit, etc.

  • CHECK ELECTRICAL CONTROL PANEL & WIRING, where applicable

    Functionality and mode of operation, insulation, continuity, etc.

  • CHECK OPERATOR CONTROLS

    Functionality and mode of operation, insulation, continuity, security of connections, cracks, damage, distortion, wear, etc.

  • CHECK WIRE ROPE including anchorages, guides, sheaves/pins, bearings, bottom block and hook(s)

    Corrosion, cracks, damage, distortion, wear, kinks, broken wires, adequacy of lubrication, rope fit, reeving, specification and condition, full or partial seizure of rotating components, safety latches, security of attachment points and sub-structures, fasteners, welds, anchorages, etc.

  • CHECK ELECTRICAL CONTROL PANEL & WIRING

    Functionality and mode of operation, insulation, continuity, security of electrical connections, etc.

  • CHECK POWER FEED SYSTEM

    Functionality and mode of operation, security of hose connections, leaks, etc.

  • CHECK RCI / RCL DEVICES

    Functionality and mode of operation, calibration, etc.
