According to Australian Standards Chain Slings (G80 or G100) should be visually inspected by a competent person EVERY 12 MONTHS.
This is a guide only. Lifting Equipment should be inspected prior to each use to ensure it has a current inspection tag, has not been recently damage and is safe for use. When determining the required inspection periods please also consider environmental factors, level of duty and storage.
PROOF LOAD TESTS: It is also recommended that Chain Slings and related assemblies are Proof Load Tested EVERY 12 MONTHS.
